Peace Is A Divine Sweet Reward: Dr. Yuhanon Mar Demetrios

Dr. Yuhanon Mar Demetrios, Assistant Metropolitan of Delhi Diocese, observed that true peace is not something that can easily be possessed or comfortably achieved but is attained by overcoming strife through justice, fairness and truthful perseverance with unfailing faith, in which process one aligns with and pleases God.

Quoting Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on WHOM HIS FAVOUR RESTS”, the Metropolitan said that God preferred to offer Peace to whom He is well pleased (‘Bhoomiyil Sampreethiyullavarkku Samadhanam’). God favored the very simple and straightforward shepherds and offered them His Peace through the Angel. Mar Demetrios also said that Peace even like grace is God’s sweet reward and gift and is secured by battling strife through the weapon of faithful persevering prayer. A continuous strife is in place between the ‘soul’ and ‘body’ of a faithful individual and with faithful wrestling between evil dominated body and God seeking soul, victory over evil and peace is achieved.
