Obituary: P. S. Joy Kizhavalloor

NEW YORK: P. S. Joy Kureekattil, Kizhavalloor, Pathanamthitta passed away on March 23, 2010 due to a heart attack. He was 73. His son Fr. Alex Joy is the vicar of St. George Orthodox Church, Staten Island, New York.

The funeral services will be led by Metropolitan Mathews Mar Themothios on Monday, March 29 at St.Peter’s Orthodox Church, Kizhavalloor.

He is survived by his wife Mariamma and children: James K. Joy, Raju K. Joy, Jose K. Joy, Fr. Alex K. Joy and shirley (all in USA). In laws: Saly, Shiny, Suja, Jessy and Jain Philip.

Metropolitans of Northeast American diocese Mathews Mar Barnabas and Zachariah Mar Nicholovos expressed their condolence along to the berieved family. Fr. John Thomas the diocesan secretary has also condoled.

Father of Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Milithios Passes Away

MUVATTUPUZHA: M. J. Markose Murimakil (Kunjappan 82) had passed away this morning after a long illness. He is the Father of Metropolitan Yuhanon Mar Milithios of Thrissur Diocese.

Markose has been a Gandhian, a social worker and a farmer. He was the trustee and Sunday School Headmaster of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Vettithara for several years.

The Funeral will take place on February 12, 2010 at Muvattupuzha Aramana chapel at noon

He is survived by his wife Saramma and four children: Yuhanon Mar Milithios, Loosy Kuriachan, Jose Markose [Delhi] and Santhosh Markose [Duabi].

Markose has served as member and vice president of Maneed Gramma Panchayat for 23 years. He was the President of Maneed Co-Operative society, Pampakuda Block Development Committee member, KPCC member and held several other positions in the society.

Obituary: Varghese Thomas Thykkakathu Malayil

NEW YORK: Varghese Thomas (Kunjumon), Thykkakathu Malayil, Thiruvalla ( a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Jackson Heights) passed away after 3 months struggle at Westchester, Medical Center, NY. He was 62.

Varghese Thomas was born on Oct.22, 1946 in Thiruvalla to the late Varkey Varghese Thykkakathu Malayil and the late Mariamma Varghese.

He was survived by his Wife Prabha and four children (Prinny – married to Ninan Abraham in London, Suzanne- an Engg. student in Thiruvananthapuram, Varghese Prinish Thomas – California and Cherian Thomas- High School Student). His brother Varghese Cherian is a member of Virginia Orthodox parish.

Varghese Thomas served as an officer in State Bank of India until2006. He had migrated to the United States after his retirement from the Bank. He had graduated from SB College Changanacherry. He was also a senior friend of the MGOCSM.

Viewing will be at Park Funeral Home -on Sat, Oct 31 at 5.00 to 9.00 PM. Fr. John Thomas Alummoottil will lead the service at the Funeral Home

Funeral will be conducted in India at St. Stephens Orthodox Church, Meenthalakara, Tiruvalla  on Saturday, November 7.

Obituary: Baskyoumo Aleyamma Samuel Passes Away

NEW YORK: Baskyoumo Aleyamma Samuel (Ammini) – wife of the Cor Episcopos Dr. P. S. Samuel passed away on Friday at 3p.m at the L I J Hospital, New Hyde Park. She was 81 years old.

Aleyamma was born on Oct.10, 1928 as the second daughter of Puthenpurackal Thoppil P. C. George and Rachel at Puthencavu. She was married on May 9, 1960 to Cor Episcopos P.S.Samuel who is the Vicar of St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Cherry Lane, New Hyde Park, NY. She worked as a Teacher in Mathematics for several years in Nigiria and author of many books for the Board of education there.

Aleyamma is survived by her husband Cor Episcopos P. S. Samuel, Children – Dr. Roger Z. Samuel, Dr. Roshni Samuel Stephanos, Reji G.Samuel and Rejini R.Samuel.

Funeral Service will be at the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, 175 Cherry Lane, Floral Park, NY 11001, on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at 9.00 am.

The Diocesan Metropolitans Mathews Mar Barnabas and Zachariah Mar Nicholovos will lead the funeral service.

The Diocesan Metropolitans, the Council Members of the North East American Diocese and the Clergy Fellowship have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.

NEW YORK: Prof. E. George Mathew, son of late Edathumpadickal P. Mathew, Pallam, Kottayam, died in Pomona of Rockland County New York. He was 64.

He is survived by his mother Aleyamma, Thomas Mathew (brother living in Delaware), Dr. Jacob Mathew (brother living in England), Sosamma Kuruvilla (sister living in Colarado).

NEW YORK: Chinnamma Abraham (81) wife of late Lt. Chandy Abraham (I.N.A.) of Palamootil Polakunnil, Thonackad, Mavelikaran had passed away on March 29 at 9.30pm in New York. Funeral will be held at St. George Orthodox Syrian Church Thonackad, Mavelikara on Tuesday April 4 2006 at 11:30am.

She was a very active member in all Church activities and was the Secretary for Martha Mariam Samajam of St. George Orthodox Syrian Church at Thonackad for more than two decades until she came to United States.
