The platform Vokle allows attendees to join live via webcast and follow along with the prayer session leaders (via live video).

The prayers are led by clergy members as well as MGOCSM National Council Members.

Attendees can join live via facebook, twitter, or vokle and can interactively send in their prayer requests to the session leaders.

Additionally a form for submitting prayer requests is available (see below). If you are unable to attend the prayer sessions, each session will be recorded and made available within 10 minutes after the live session ends.

The books we will be using for the prayer session include:

  • The Book of Common Prayers (Sh’himo Namaskaram)
  • Prayers of The Great Lent 2nd edition

Mar Policarpos: OCYM Conference Theme Is Manifestation Of God’s Recognition

THRIKKUNNATHU SEMINARY, ALUVA: The four-day Annual Conference of the OCYM will be held from October 23-26, 2012 under the auspices of Chengannur Diocese. The conference will be held under the theme “Marthoma Heritage and Social Commitment”.

HG Yuhanon Mar Policarpos, Metropolitan Diocese of Ankamali and President OCYM, has in a Bull dated March 4, 2012, paid rich encomiums to Sabha Rathnam LL Dr Geevarghese Mar Ostathios, the former President of OCYM.

The Metropolitan says that the theme selection for the 2012 annual conference was a clear manifestation of God’s recognition of the great missionary icon. “He was an excellent President of our Movement. We are bound to follow the path he has shown to us. A gem of our church left us for Heavenly Abode quitting his mortal remains here. Gone was the blessed soul who spread Lord’s mission in this world as he was prompted by the Holy Spirit.”

Mar Policarpos notes that the activities of OCYM were going ahead satisfactorily. While some of the units were excellent towards carrying out the goals. A few of them with greater potential were yet to produce the desired results.

“It is disheartening to note that in some parishes the Movement is yet to take off. Our Movement which stresses upon prayers and study should be encouraged with inaugurating new units at unrepresented areas at the earliest. Please note that the activities should not end up with the mere chalking out programmes that do not see light,” cautions the OCYM President.

The vicars and the workers of the OCYM should see to that all units get registered on time, the letter adds.

The theme of the 3-day meet was based from Proverbs 22:28 — Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your forefathers. The Forbes feature traces the roots of George Muthoot, 62, the bespectacled chairman who presently heads the third generation of the Muthoot business clan.

It notes that the May listing of Muthoot Finance, in which he holds 80 per cent along with three brothers, has earned him a spot for the first time on the Forbes Asia rich list. As the eldest and group head, he’s ranked at number 50 with a fortune of $1.1 billion.

This mechanical engineer oversees Muthoot’s strategy and expansion from New Delhi, while his three siblings man the southern post in Kochi. The Muthoots are one of the wealthiest business clans in Kerala. The group was founded by Muthoot Ninan Mathai, M G George’s grandfather, in 1887. Investors recently panned for shares of Muthoot Finance, which were 24 times oversubscribed.

The feature also notes about the Muthoots who belong to Kerala’s land-owning Syrian Christian community, who believe they are direct descendants of St Thomas, one of the apostles of Christ.
