In U.K. fire works are conducted under strict supervision and License to operate and display on public premises are strictly followed. The reasons for accident can be eliminated if there is a control rather than voluntary Code of Conduct ! There are traditions we follow as Malankara Christians and the Law should be applied by all religious organizations… For example, in Spain the bull charging into the crowd of hundreds is a National Festival ! Likewise we must stipulate a date in a season to celebrate the festivities rather than burn the money… Absolute support to Bava Thirumeni’s Kalpana for banning fire works on PERUNAL DAY.

Which religious scripture is telling about fireworks to be a part of the religious festivals? The fire works and elephant rallies are turning like highly dangerous religious shows. It is very true that many people are attending the religious festivals to watch the colorful fireworks; thus the fireworks are being used as a religious kickbacks. There is no fireworks at the Maramon convention or at the Makkakunnu convention of the Orthodox Church which I have attended while studying at school and college, though not a member of the Orthodox Church.

It is highly praiseworthy and commendable that the Malankara Metropolitan has taken a firm step to stop this antiquated and dangerous fireworks from the Church festivals. Let that fireworks expenditure may be used to help some poor people of the Church or anybody else. Let this Kalpana may enlighten the believers to be fired up in charity work.
