Felicitation Meeting to the Newly Consecrated Metropolitans Shifted to Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sabha Secretary Dr. George Joseph informed that the felicitation meeting planned after the consecration of Metropolitans on May 12, 2010 at Mar Elia Cathedral, Kottayam, was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram.

The new date will be Teuesday, May 18th, 2010. Venue will be Kottackattu Convention Center, Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram. The Catholicose Baselios Marthoma Didymus I will preside over the meeting.

Catholicos Elect Paulose Mar Milithios, Metropolitan of Chengannoor Thomas Mar Athanasios, Metropolitan of Thiruvananthapuram Dr. Gabriel Mar Gregorios, other Metropolitans of the Church, Kerala Cabinet Minister M. Vijayakumar, Member of Indian Parliament Sasi Tharoor, various other leaders from the socio-political and cultural walks of life are to attend the meeting.

Presence of God is the Key for Solidarity to Family Life: Mar Eusebius

CHICAGO: Love, mutual understanding and reciprocated trust are the pivotal factors for solidarity to the family life and this becomes possible only through the felt presence of God, said Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of the South West American Diocese.

The Metropolitan was inaugurating the Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam regional meeting at St. Gregorios Cathedral, Bellwood, Chicago.

Fr. Daniel George presided over the meeting. Fr. V.M. Shibu, Fr. Sunoj Oommen, and Dn. Diju Skaria lead classes on various topics.
Coordinator to the meeting Molamma Mathew presented the report. Rachel Kunnel welcomed the gathering and Rena Varkey voiced vote of thanks.

A large body of members of Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam from Churches of the central region, namely, St. Mary’s Oklahoma, St. Thomas Chicago, St. Gregorios Oak Park, and St. Gregorios Cathedral Bellwood attended the meeting.

Rachel Kunnel, Baby Mathai, Philomina Philip, Jiji Simon, Susan Oommen, Mini Jason, and Ann John have spearheaded various committees to make the meeting a grand success.

Puthuppalli Church is a Soothing Sacred Place: K.V. Thomas

KOTTAYAM The St. George Orthodox Church, Puthuppalli, is a sacred place that comforts everyone, who put trust upon the intercession of Saint George the Martyr, said Union Cabinet Minister K.V. Thomas while inaugurating the public meeting after Holy Qurbana on Sunday, May 2nd, 2010.

Metropolitan of Kottayam Geevarghese Mar Ivanios presided over the meeting.

Member of Indian Parliament Jose K. Mani distributed House Renovations’ Fund for the poor during the meeting. Leader of Opposition and member of St. George Orthodox Church, Puthuppalli, Oommen Chandy inaugurated the new office of St. George Orthodox Charitable Society, Puthuppalli. Member of Kerala Legislative Assembly K.B. Ganesh Kumar distributed the Marriage Aid Fund.

Nibu John Eruthickal, President of Puthuppalli Panchayat, distributed prizes to the candidates, who have secured high ranks at the All Malankara Sunday School Examinations. Fr. C. John Chirathalattu and Biji P. George, Perumpuzhayil, vicar and secretary respectively of the St. George Orthodox Church Puthuppalli have also spoken at the meeting.
