fr-t-j-joshua-sermon

PHILADELPHIA: A Under the joint auspices of the Orthodox churches in the city of brotherly love – Philadelphia – its 11th Gospel convention was held in 3 days at the St. Thomas Orthodox Church Auditorium.

The convention was particularly noteworthy for two reasons, this year. Most important was the presence of Fr. T. J. Joshua and the other was being able to convene such a convention in Orthodox Church own facility – the magnificent and huge Church complex acquired by St. Thomas Church.

Sensing the mood of the 1000 plus faithful gathered in the two days speaks the importance of a joint Orthodox Gospel convention. The participants listened the majestic and heart piercing voice of our great orator Fr.T.J.Joshua . “It was a revival and refreshing for those heard this servant of God at least once in the past and it was new experience for those never heard him, mainly the children” many reflected.

Fr.Joshua captivated the listeners in pin drop silence with his theological insights put as simple as to be able to comprehend by the young and old, the little learned and the learned and Malayalam speaking and English speaking audience. Fr.Joshua spoke about the importance of seeking the Feet, Hands and the Face of our Lord and ultimately to surrender the self before Him.

A To be at the feet of our Lord, to look at the nail print of our Lord and at the face of Lord. To regain the lost humility of our people, at the feet of Jesus, recount the suffering of our Lord looking the nail pierced arms and seek the protection of the hands those created the universe and seek the joy of the face of our lord,- reminded Fr.Joshua

The 3 days oration led the faithful in a pilgrimage. The physical inflictions that Fr.T.J. Joshua had to go through was a new awareness for most of the attendees. And yet the the deep understanding of the great plans of our Lord to sustain this great evangelist though the sufferings speaks to everyone a lot.

“Pray for this great son of Malankara Sabha for good health and long life. We cant’ wait for another opportunity to listen to this great voice of God through Joshua Achen” many praised the Lord and said..

Actions By The Rival Catholicos Deplorable : Philipose Philip

m-c-philipose

NEW YORK: “The drama being enacted by the rival Catholicos (Sreshta) during the last one week has been watched by many Keralites all over the world. People couldn’t even believe what they were seeing. The head of a faction sitting in the middle of the road for more than 8 hours, then for another 24 plus hours inside a Jacobite Church and again a third time at a Hospital!. It is highly deplorable” said Philipose Philip, Sabha Managing Committee Member in New York.

Philipose Philip said this while responding to the propaganda made through media on Thrikkunnathu Seminary issue by the Jacobite Church.

Philipose Philip also said that it is shame to the Christian community by this Bishop’s actions at Aluva. The only thing this Bishop could provide to his faithful was Lathi charge and Arrest by the Police ( by pelting stones at Police and setting fire on a Government car)” he continued.

“All this happened without any provocation from the Orthodox faithful. Thank God for there were no Orthodox faithful at the scene of the incident. Otherwise they would have been blamed” he added.

“What is this Bishop trying to do?”, asked Philipose Philip. “Thrikkunnathu Seminary and its Chapel is under the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church. The Church has every right to appoint or transfer Bishops or Priests there. That is the only thing we did during these days” he clarified. This is just like some body telling us how to run our Home- he added.

Philipose Philip also asserted that Jacobite Church is trying to create trouble and fish in the muddy waters”. He called upon the faithful to be alert on the ones trying to discredit the Bishops who have joined the Church. “We should also not to judge them by what we hear from these people” he continued.

Philipose Philip reminded the faithful to pray for Beloved Bava Thirumeni, His Holiness Baselius Marthoma Mathews II and to stand behind His Holiness unwavering.

K. Karunakaran Aims Political Gain: Orthodox Church

fr-o-thomas

KOTTAYAM: It was in a press conference yesterday Fr. Dr. O. Thomas, Priest Trustee and Dr. Alexander Karakkal, Secretary of Indian Orthodox Church jointly stated that the entry of K. Karunakaran, in the Aluva scenario with the promise of support for the Jacobites in the current issues at Aluva made crystal clear that it is not to favor either faction, but to belittle his political opponent, Oommen Chandy, the Chief Minister of Kerala.

It was announced in the conference that the entire Kerala do remember K. Karunakaran’s involvement and initiative in disbursing the great march of Jacobites in 1974, to capture the control of the Seminary by force in 1974. Criticizing K Karunakaran’s present stance in favor of the Jacobite faction, they charged that it was contrary to his earlier stance when he was the Home Minister.

The Jacobites had attempted for violence ignoring rules and regulations. They warned that attempts from any one of the political parties to support violence and agitations will not be ideal. If the Government of Kerala honors the pressures from any side, Indian Orthodox Church will also have to think soundly about their political stand. The entry of Bishops and Priests for giving support and leadership for violent activities are really unhappy. Fr.O.thomas and Dr.Alexander Karakkal said that the violent incident at the Thrikkunnathu seminary was shameful to the entire Christian community.

Refuting the charges at a media conference in Kottayam, they contended that the Orthodox Church did not enter the church which was in dispute but the seminary and chapel near it fully owned by the church. The Hon. Court verdict clearly states that the Thrikkunnathu Seminary belongs to Indian Orthodox Church. They confirmed that the permission to enter the Seminary and premises lies with the Indian Orthodox Church.

Prof. E.J. John-Senior Deputy Secretary , Prof. Jose Parekadavil-P.R.O ,also attended the press conference.
